Alone in My Uniqueness Drawing

We are alone in our uniqueness, and yet there are things that bind us together. There is a fluidity that exists between all creatures, and perhaps that's how I found this reoccuring character in my art. Bicho (bee-cho) means critter, creature or bug. I have drawn him on all kinds of surfaces and embroidered him into all sorts of fabrics. Bicho is masculine, although no necessarily male. He is alone in his uniqueness, and yet there is something familiar in him to all of us. I drew this version of Bicho when I was living in Buenos Aires, ARG during the severe lock downs there, waiting out the first waves of the pandemic. The stippling that surrounds him might be airborn particles, not unlike COVID-19. He might be looking out into the suddenly silent streets of the city. Or he could be surrounded by everyone, and yet alone in his uniqueness.
