Ships in a Box
At the estuary of the River Lune at Sunderland Point which is cut off from the mainland at high tide. Sunderland Point was where ships in the early 18th C would unload their cargoes to be taken up river to Lancaster, Folklore says that the first American cotton was landed there and that a 'Cotton Tree' grew near the single row of Georgian houses. This tree was badly damaged in a storm a few years ago.
