Inspired by Wikipedia: "Until the late 18th century, the term had referred to learned people of both sexes. It subsequently was applied primarily to intellectual women, and the French equivalent bas bleu had a similar connotation. The term later developed negative implications, and in some instances such women were stereotyped as being "frumpy". The reference to blue stockings may arise from the time when woollen worsted stockings were informal dress, in contrast to formal, fashionable black silk stockings." The drawing was made on white paper in author technique which is based on thermal press transfer using carbon copy paper.

Lithuania
I am Vilnius-based graphic artist, creating highly detailed figurative images in my unique carbon monotype technique, which is based on carbon-copy paper thermal transferring, supplemented with graphite. Using carbon paper, I transfer the smallest details and textures created by both man and nature onto paper, organising them into the well-defined shapes. I grew up in Vilnius, Lithuania - a historic, green city surrounded by many forests and lakes. After earning Master’s degree in Arts at the Vilnius Academy of Arts, I worked as a graphic designer, illustrator, jewellery-maker, and audiovisual collaborator, and next to this I was always drawing. This eclectic background gave me a unique point of view through which I approach my art, and continue to inspire my tendency towards exploration and experimentation. The central subject in my art is nature and animals. I seek to capture the harmony of a moment, the bodily expression and nature of the object she creates. Equally important part is visual texture of the object, what it is made of. I make an unusual choices of patterns, what gives a special sounding and brings dynamic to the strict monumental forms. Thus, combining a deep fascination for scientific illustration with my unique technique, I bring a contemporary approach to the classical genre of my visual stories.
