This torch painting was created in collaboration with the Hunter Museum of American Art. Inspired by "Burning of the Philadelphia" by Edward Moran (1897) from the Hunter's permanent collection, this piece was created by burning the image into a wood panel using a propane torch. Not only is the subject matter appropriate to the medium, but the wood grain itself creates a satisfying parallel to the flames and smoke in the scene.
