About The Artwork

Checking the Mail is a surreal drawing of a creature standing at a mailbox. Part fish, monkey, sloth, possum, elephant styled in a sort of Kusama print pant with a gaudy necklace around her neck. The evolution of man in 2020, set amidst the background of yet another global illusion, this mundane task is perhaps anything but as all is not as it appears to be. Black ink on an eggshell colored watermarked resume paper. Initialed by the artist Dan Oliver in 2020. The surreal quality of this humanoid creature blends many animals together in a way that makes surrealism seem like realism. Much like the effects we felt in 2020. What we thought we knew about the world was inverted, flipped and all sense of reality was broken as the illusions and infastructures in place crumbled before our eyes. - This Artwork is hand initialed and dated on the front right corner. - My paintings and drawings are securely packaged, insured and shipped through a reputable courier to ensure they reach you safely.

I was born in Ripon, Wisconsin and spent much of my childhood outdoors with the Boy Scouts or visiting my Grandparents in Waupaca, Wisconsin. I graduated from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting. After college, I moved to Chicago to study improv comedy at iO and The Second City, where I performed in theatre and film for over a decade before moving to Los Angeles. While in Los Angeles, my love for oil painting erupted in a new environment. Endless Summer days spent painting in my studio flowed out of me as abstract art liberated my spirit. Being self-taught gave me the freedom to create from intuition while utilizing my improv experience to create works of art in the moment. Oil painting became my obsession that Summer in my small East Hollywood studio. It was a way to cope with life, trauma & pain, as well as further explore the emotional scale and the concepts of neuroscience and positive phycology. I currently create my art in Ripon, WI. As a full time creative, I also freelance as an actor, producer and writer. I love gourmet vegan food, coffee and wine. My art is about connection, creativity and expression. The subject matter ranges from nature, literature reflections, pop culture and global cultural phenomenon. Most of my collectors are hard-working individuals within the arts and entertainment industry. I paint to stimulate the viewer's creativity & thought. The end result is an abundant luxurious escape from the world, allowing greater reverence for life in the collector's life. I greatly admire the work of Picasso & George Condo most of all because of their ability to transform the daily experience into something abstract, colorful and multi-dimensional spanning across the illusion of time. When individuals encourages artistic growth and expansion in others, we will enter into a new world of possibility and wealth never before witnessed on this planet. My work explores expansion through the use of color, abstraction and emotion. Thank you for taking an interest in my work and I hope to help you find art you can appreciate for generations to come.
