About The Artwork

This drawing depicts a Cloud, ephimeral, light, and full of movement. It is partly transparant and placed upon a backdrop of shiny yellow, a colour with hopeful connotations. Many hatchings and tactile lines in silvertip pen make it a most vivid Cloud. Marisa Rappard is interested in how man places it’s hope in technology and confers it almost religious or transcendent characteristics. It is ambiguous whether the Cloud in this drawing is a digital one or a living Presence.

Marisa Rappard (1979) is a Dutch drawing artist. She creates works on paper and also lets the dense stream of lines emerge from the drawing and enter the room in installations. Though the pencil has been her favourite material ever since she incessantly drew comics in her childhood lately she is also venturing to use ink and acrylics, making large scale drawings on paper as well as working directy onto the wall.
