About The Artwork
This is a chimpanzee that is thinking about life while playing with his foot. Monkeys have the most human expressions and interpret their emotions very similar to humans through movement of their body gestures. I wanted to capture the intensity of their facial expression, but using a relaxed posture - a time of contemplation. All done in pen and ink...using dots, scratches and lines - using black and white ink and using no colour. Its a signature style I love...the simplicity of just using a pen to capture emotion of an animal.
