About The Artwork
This piece of work was an accident. Initially it was a watercolour painting of a lion which had seeped through the opposite side of the paper. I continued to use that side to reflect the portrait of a woman and the two halves of her face. One which is "put-together" and "perfect"; the other "contorted" and "wilting" in its own demons. It symbolises how we carry masks that coalesce with the darkness & colour of our lives. One without the other is like a woman without the other half of her face.
