In my new work I explore the boundaries of traditional photography by using unconventional techniques. I create images that challenge viewers to question assumptions and perceptions of reality. I use Ai to manipulate my own dip pen and ink drawings, pushing the boundaries of what is traditionally considered “photography.” By creating images that resemble the analog photos I used to take, I also blur the line between the past and the present, further emphasizing the fluidity of truth and reality. Before photography became digital, I shot everything with my Hasselblad. Often black and white. These works are printed 3x times max. Some drawings resulted in multiple images. Different, same source. In my earlier work I also explored boundaries: through the choice of subjects and through the way of portraying those subjects. I am generally interested in the shadow side, the periphery and the part of my subjects that is out of sight.
