In "Craving You", Laurent Anastay-Ponsolle not only captures the intensity of desire but also evokes mythological echoes, particularly that of Saturn, the Roman god who devoured his children. This mythological figure, symbolizing destructive consumption, finds a parallel in the drawing through the depiction of a body in tension, seemingly frozen between desire and the threat of being consumed. The simple yet powerful lines of the drawing convey a visceral, almost insatiable craving, much like Saturn's own devouring nature. Each stroke seems to evoke the duality between attraction and destruction, need and the fear of being consumed. The emptiness left in the composition emphasizes this sense of unfulfilled longing and frustration. The title, "Craving You", reinforces the idea of an all-consuming desire that, like Saturn, threatens to engulf everything, including the one who experiences it. Anastay-Ponsolle thus delves into the depths of human desire, while drawing parallels with mythological stories that symbolize the destructive aspect of unchecked longing. The body becomes a battlefield where desire, loss, and emotional consumption intersect.

Self-taught artist, born in 1982, Laurent Anastay-Ponsolle has developed a practice based on emotion and spontaneity. Fed up with words and concepts, he wanted to express himself in a different way and be in direct touch with materials. Deeply influenced by Schiele, Munch, but also drawing from diverse sources of inspiration like Antique or fantastic mythologies, Mapplethorpe, his work is in continual tension between passion, storytelling and aestheticism. Always guided by his instinct, Laurent Anastay-Ponsolle’s erratic lines search and reveal emotions. This is why he has now a strong link to contemporary dance and explores letting go. A bit less than ten years ago, Laurent felt “ready” to show his work and exhibit. This process -talking to people and making new encounters- was a true revelation. Since then, he took part in many solo and groups shows as well as performances. In 2020 he decided to stop all other professional endeavors to dedicate himself to his art.
