My artworks explore the human(my) mind and its scenery that may change every moment. This work is a series of Daily Drawing as a picture diary that document my mind inside changing every moment in a visual form of 2D abstract art. The process and concept of art-making are based on the idea of Hwek (a calligraphic brush stroke) from Eastern art and Automatism from Western. The form of this series of Daily Drawing is expanded from a daily diary note that may document daily story, event or things happened around during that day. This combined conceptual methodology sometimes drives me or my hand to make corporal linear movements. This in my works may be able to produce infinitive moving lines, again these lines develop into figures, signs and symbols. Once these may randomly combine and come up on the plane, my mindscape may be explored as a 2D scenery with my personal but abstract visual language. I usually demand materials that contain specific aspects such as flexibility, familiarity, mobility and ease for drawing or painting in daily life. Especially used materials include pencils, ball-point pens, oil-stick and acrylic with papers.

South Korea
I am a Korean artist working in painting, drawing, printmaking and making objects. I usually explore my inside things ever changing (feeling, emotion, thought, idea so on) through documenting records of my hand unconscious action. In a part my art is inspired by a Korean artist working in US, Ik-joong Kang, Ungno Lee; American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat and Cy Tombly. Also during my research in Ph.D, I have been inspired by my supervisors, Australian artists: professor David Thomas and Doctor Phil Edwards. Generally ideas and methodologies on my art works are based on traditional Korean art concept and sensation, plus Jungian idea of 'Natural Symbols', American action painting.
