Goldadler Drawing

My cultural heritage is German and I chose to honor my family, my ancestors and my roots. Thus, when I went to design my business card, I went researching history (historical colors of Germany; why the colors were chosen; animal symbol (gold eagle); etc.). So, I decided to do a gold eagle, to commemorate the rich history of my people. Mood? Practical love. Honestly, I think the gold eagle represents both my love of illustrating and technical skill. It lacks the emotional attachment of many, yet still was drawn with passion and determination. Reservation, perhaps, or even paternal. Why do I use ink? Ink is like life. There are no take-backs. You must commit to a choice and deal with the consequences. Yes, sometimes, even after multiple hours working on a drawing, I must start over because I wasn't paying attention to my pain levels or how tired I was, but that's life, no? Start again, learn from the mistakes. I commit to the moment and have faith in myself; when it's good, I see the brilliance of myself.
