About The Artwork

In this particular portrait, I was fascinated by the cast shadows and play of light emphasising the muscles and power of this handsome horse. The approach to this particular portrait involved a new technique and it was an exciting journey, and a joy to portray. Thanks to Ainslie Gillis-Patel for reference photo.

As a child, I watched in fascination the animals, insects and birds around me. I adored wildlife and also thoroughly enjoyed drawing. During my teens I became a keen conservationist and throughout the following years, my love of art and concern for our fellow creatures has been unceasing. My love of nature is reflected in my artwork and my original paintings, prints and cards are available from my Larmer Tree Studio, Tollard Royal, Salisbury, Wiltshire, U.K. My artwork is also available from my website: www.natureinart.com Self taught and working from home I became a full time Wildlife and Pet Portrait Artist in 1989. A lover of wildlife since childhood and a keen conservationist for the past 40 years, I feel fortunate to have realised a lifelong ambition; whilst combining my love of 'Wildlife and Art', I also supports Wildlife Conservation Societies through the sale of my artwork. In 1996 I became a member of the Dorset Bat Group. I have since participated in bat surveys and counts for the Bat Conservation Trust, Dorset Wildlife Trust and the Vincent Wildlife Trust. Having been interested in bat welfare for many years, I became a Registered Bat Rescuer & Carer in 2003. As a Registered Bat Carer I rescue orphaned and injured bats in order to care for them until they are ready to be released back into the wild. My husband and I also rescue any birds or mammals that are in need of a helping hand. The most recent being 3 orphaned Peachicks, a juvenile Sparrowhawk and a Tawny Owl. Each year I also participate in nest and colony surveys for the British Trust for Ornithology. I have two lovely four-legged furry friends and work from my lovely Larmer Tree Studio situated in the beautiful Larmer Tree Gardens, Tollard Royal, Wiltshire.
