About The Artwork

I take my own photographs of Australian wildlife and reproduce the photos into pastel artworks. The title of this pastel is 'Hinkler', which is the name of the road where the photo was taken. The subject is a female red-tailed black cockatoo, which is endangered in Australia. Every summer, we have a number visit us in Bundaberg, Queensland eating left over macadamia nuts and pine cones. The last red-tailed black cockatoo I painted was sold to a client in Texas, USA. Hinkler was done in soft pastels (base layer) and pastel pencils for the fine details. The surface is called Clairefontaine Pastelmat, it's made in France and is the choice of professional pastelists. I love working with pastels as they are so vibrant.

I'm new to SaatchiArt but have sold lots of my works on ArtFinder and Bluethumb. I'm mainly a wildlife pastel artist however I can draw almost anything, including portraiture. Prior to COVID, I was a finalist in the Lethbridge Art Competition 3 years running. I sell my artwork all over the world and I'm kept busy doing commissions.
