Homeless Slumber Drawing

This work was inspired by the look of peace on the face of a man who was facing struggles that caused him to sleep on a park bench. The lines on his forehead help to tell a story of his life but in his sleep, his face is softened as if he is in an escape from his reality. I have always had a fascination with the world we create in our dreams and I found it comforting to see the peace brought to him in his resting state. I hope that viewers are humbled by this image and that they will take the time to appreciate their peace even if it is a world created in their sleep. I feel that this story was best told in grays. I was afraid that color would distract the viewer.
