About The Artwork

An installation/drawing in which I drew a hexagonal grid onto a large wall using marker pen and worked into it. Hexagons are easily associated with the “beehive” grid and that sort of mentality, so I figured it was a good choice to use that particular shape. After the outlines of the grid were drawn, I had a go at working into the grid, transforming some of the hexagons into cubes, or overlaying certain hexagons with paper shapes. I probably could have gone much further with this project had I had the time, but as I was prepping for assessment at uni, I was working on multiple things at once, so I suppose I would consider it something if I were to try again in the future, I would be able to develop a lot more rigorously.

I am an artist currently studying for my Masters of fine art at Birmingham City University. My practice as an artist is primarily an investigation into grids, logic and mathematical systems, and by subverting them, how people will react and respond to them...myself included. I achieve this through the mediums of sculpture, video, installation, drawing and writing.
