"La Catrina" Original Pencil Drawing by Roben B. Taglienti. La Catrina, is a figure created by José Guadalupe Posada and the muralist Diego Rivera gave it that name. The images of skeletons and skulls were a common form of denunciation and social criticism in the publications of the late nineteenth century and the early twentieth century used by several cartoonists.Currently La Catrina is the characteristic image associated with the celebration of one of the important and famous traditions of Mexico on The Day of the Dead.
