Love Is: Drawing

This is part of a 16 piece double sided display of art work, framed in clear plastic perspex ( 8 frames). The price is for the entire collection collated into a hanging installation. They are all shown individually here, and there is also a photograph of the whole installation. Look in the "collections" section for all of the artworks in this piece, and the view of the complete works, hung altogether. It is screwed together with multiple nuts and bolts that pierce the perspex frame of the work, holding the two sides and two artworks together. The nuts and bolts extending through the work, add another dimension to it, and are also used to suspend the works in mid air from hooks in the floor and ceiling, with nearly invisible fishing line. This display makes the works which are nestled together in an organic asymetrical format appear to be floating in space. This work is a combination of 16 pieces which are made to sit together in abstract unity, a cohesive installation of paintings which you can walk around, to see both sides. The work is titled: " Love is: the ultimate experience of abstraction in this life." You can read the full written work, included on one of the A4 size pieces in a separate picture here. Realising that Love is such an abstract experience, I decided to compose something about that, and nestle it into a cohesive display of these abstract paintings, combining ink, cardboard/paper collage, street art marker pens and acrylic. With nuts and bolts protruding from each side. This is a reflection on the abstract nature of Love, both intellectually/theoretically in the written work, and also in the majority of the other 15 pieces, as an abstract visual meditation. I was inspired by this special experience, in life, which we all relate to in personal ways. I wanted to create something different here. This display is crossing the boundaries between paintings and installation. The nuts and bolts create a 3d dimension, as well as a practical purpose to hang the paintings. The way that they are suspended makes it look as if they are subject to some kind of magic, beyond the laws of gravity, as the fishing wire is nearly invisible, particularly from a distance. At least it is so subtle, that all you tend to see is the unique way the paintings hang in space, not exactly straight, but in a slightly asymmetrical organic format, giving an unusual impression and instantly drawing the attention and eyes of the viewer.
