About The Artwork

I am passionate by the human forms, the movement, the freedom and its exuberance . The media I used was Acrylic, ink and charcoal on paper. Colorful, I believe colors are so important in peoples lives because they will attract the spectator's attention and make them wonder about its meaning.

Sculptor and painter Gus Ocamposilva works as a team with his wife Lina. Together they make and install aluminum sculptures around the world and share the same passion for art. Self-taught ,16 years ago: He aims for the welding torch. She cuts the metal sheets. Some days, vise versa. Gus Ocamposilva received most of his formal art training in Spain where he studied Murals at Massana School of Barcelona and painting procedures at Barcelona University, Spain. (1992-1995) Their sculptures are made of strong aluminum, but appear soft and fluid. The bended forms incorporate tubes and exposed bolts. They created their own style with character using bright colors, empty spaces and balance. Forms appear on the surface showing poignancy and verb in all their art works that become an abstraction of the figurative forms. They want to show in all their works their passion for live and nature. They see the world in countless colors, diverse and vibrant, and this is apparent in their creations. Dynamic and exciting, their artwork speaks of colors, magic and poetry. They were invited by the City of New York to exhibit three of our 12ft sculptures (“Dancers of the wind” Spring 2013) that were designed exclusively to be displayed along the East River Park Promenade in Manhattan and have installed monumental sculptures in cities such as: Chicago, Palm Desert CA, Atlanta, Miami among others, which has given them huge experience working with public art. Gus and Lina have been awarded with several public art exhibitions and permanent installations commissioned by different cities in North America. They have earned numerous honors awards both in the U. S. and abroad and their commissioned work can be found in public and private collections around the world. Their bibliography includes articles in different national and international publications.
