About The Artwork

In "My Thoughts Are Quiet," I explore the concept of the shadow self, a psychological term representing aspects of ourselves that we may shy away from confronting. However, embracing and observing our shadow can lead to greater self-confidence and personal growth. Through this process, we come to understand that stress, worries, and fear are not weaknesses, but rather mechanisms for self-preservation. The contrast of vibrant colours against a dark background symbolizes the interplay between light and dark in our lives, highlighting the beauty that emerges from embracing shadow. Using Indian ink and a unique technique involving water spray on watercolour paper, I capture the essence of inner conversation and meditation, allowing the artwork to unfold organically. The unique ability of Indian ink to push out dark tones with brighter colours adds depth to the metaphor. "My Thoughts Are Quiet" invites viewers to reflect on the complexities of the human psyche and the transformative power of self-acceptance.

I'm an artist who has discovered solace and healing through artistic expression. Throughout my life, I've navigated through some of the most formidable challenges, including revolutions, Gray zones, and ultimately, war. As a cultural activist, I've consistently engaged in efforts to address and remedy social issues. However, with the onset of the pandemic and subsequent isolation, I began to explore and experience innovative healing methods through art therapy. Over 12 years, I held positions in both national and private art higher education institutions. Additionally, I served as a curator for an art residency and international programs for emerging artists for 6 years. And of course, it was important not to stop and to collect and share my experience. While I continue my curatorial practice, my focus has shifted towards my artistic projects. I was born and raised in Ukraine, and I now reside and work in Great Britain. Additionally, I execute projects and exhibitions across Ukraine and various EU countries. My life is intricately intertwined with mobility and perpetual movement, embracing changes, details, and nuances. This imparts a global context to my artistic practice, inspiring me to delve into both global and local narratives. My artistic reflections typically revolve around social and geopolitical challenges, environmental justice, and the significance of visual context in mental well-being. Here, I'm sharing only a portion of my practice. My works delve into internal transformations and the healing process, exploring the impact of colour and light on psychological states. My art practice involves shedding expectations and cultivating sensitivity to evolving circumstances. Through techniques such as spreading ink on wet paper, mixing colours, and strategically placing accents, I engage in meditative contemplation that brings a sense of peace. This process offers a unique form of control over the direction of the flow, as well as the meticulous filling of details on dry paper. Ultimately, it serves as a means to return to reality and gain insight into one's own role. These meditative practices continue to be effective; they soothe my emotions and enhance my ability to concentrate. Occasionally, I collaborate with groups of artists using this technique, and the outcomes are consistently remarkable. At times, my abstractions transition into figurative forms.
