With this piece, I dived into the idea of Nature as full of consciousness, and had the figure interacting with the fully conscious world. Her senses are fully titillated, and multi-modal - With her full body, she sees through feeling. With her ears, she hears and thus sees the world around her. Her eyes, through visual observation also reach out to touch and find form. Through breath and smell, she picks up what is around her, reaching out to feel them.
Nature is alive and extending the same probing eyes and hands toward her and itself as well. The water sees and feels her as she moves through. Flowers send out invitations to possible pollinators. Plants perceive their world, and the sun reaches its hands to warm and caress.

It’s thrilling to discover a sprawling root system connecting thoughts that appeared to float like lily pads on the surface of a pond. Some ideas are associated by only a wispy tendril or two; others, entangled by dense dendritic ropes. Yet everything, once revealed as related, seems obviously and necessarily so. My artwork is my way of exploring these connections: the relationships between my physical and mental experiences, how they are often erroneously categorized as separate in kind, and how introspection and attention shows their unity. Through pen and ink I explore and celebrate the relationships between bodies, thoughts, things, language, music, and art. I was born and raised in Houston, Texas, where I went to the High School for Performing and Visual Arts. I got my BA at UT Austin in Linguistics and Philosophy, then came out west to study Developmental Psychology at USC. With an MA under my belt, I decided once again to focus on my art. One of my greatest discoveries has been that dichotomies - science & art; body & brain - are an illusion. This idea permeates my artwork, and today you can find me in LA drawing, playing tennis, tending to plants, or romping around in the great outdoors.
