Peace Drawing

Hi , I am Lucia, an Irish artist living and working in Northern Ireland. I have been making art in some shape or form since early childhood beginning my formal art training in textile printing and weaving before devoting all my energy to drawing and painting. I studied Experimental Art in Toronto Canada in the early ‘80s being tutored by some of Canada’s most distinguished contemporary artists. As a student I began to question traditional fine art methods in favour of challenging new concepts in the creation and experience of art being influenced by artists like Cy Twombly and Jim Dine. I like to think that my artwork is as much about the process as it is about the aesthetics of the finished piece taking risks and seeing how an idea can develop. I paint in acrylics but I mix media by adding in graphite and oil bars to add texture and movement.
