About The Artwork
Inspired by the simplicity of form of matisse figures, expressed in quick ink wash marks and ink dipper line. I find the shape with quick expressive ink wash then define the figure in this case with the ink bottle dipper, so the figurative form is loosely expressed. Often ink bleeds and dips, these add to the spontaneity of expressive feel of the drawing. The figure sits in a contemplative stance, thoughtful and calm. The drawing is in pink, blues and ochre inks onto light cream paper. Will be supplied in an A3 white window frame. Signed original art.

I am an English artist with a passion for the human form, typography and old packaging. I have been drawing for most of my life, but began painting seriously in 2001. I love to experiment with different media, particularly in my drawing. The main body of my work revolves around the human form, in many media: drawings, mono prints, lino prints and ink. My work aims to capture a fleeting expression or a gesture, a feeling or mood and a little of the beauty of the human form. Another inspiration is portraiture of the 15th Century, I'm interested in its abstraction and graphic nature.
