Pennsylvania's seasonal tree leaf colors, and its bountiful crops of apples and peaches were the first inspiration for this work. The Carte de Viste, attached to the drawing, of Reuben Drumlgold and his wife harkens back to the history of our ancestors. The single leaf drawing by an unknown artist pulls us back to appreciation of the effort of people who loved to draw. The change of scale between tree and fruit makes the drawing a conceptual piece about what is the present and the past, and what is large and what is small. The drawings are without typical glass frame. There are 4 drawing in this work. They should be separated by an inch when displayed They are exposed, but mounted on a plywood backing which is attached to a 3/4" frame for hanging. The surface is very particulate on the trees and smoother on the fruit and ground. I do not like typical glass frames. They distort the color, make it difficult to see the character of the surface, and reflection off the glass makes seeing hard. What viewer thinks or feels about this work they form from what intrigues them.
