Art Description

Drawing: Pencil, Aquatint, Etching, Color on Paper.

This drawing was done over the aquatint print as an experiment, which can be seen by the black surfaces. Two of the larger black surfaces represent the arms that are smothering the main figure in this drawing, with the interlaced linework being the hands. At the same time the black surface in the right corner has a role of a night sky with some hills in the far background. The story behind this drawing is the one we all go through most of the time, the isolation we are battling with and our position in the society as well as the position we are in comparison to the vastness of the world we live in. Simply said, this drawing is about how even though we are trying to find the answers to our questions outside of ourselves we are smothering ourselves with anxiety not even realizing that we're the ones doing that.
