Soul-Mates Drawing

This work is an exploration of the old and well known 'soul-mate' concept. Loneliness feels as if you were one-eyed and unable to walk straight. It is not about codependent individuals, but about the human need for love and affection, and for being recognized. ‘Soul-mates’ is an illustration of fulfillment, of feeling complete and safe with someone, as the result of a long, complex and sometimes exhausting spiritual search. I created this artwork during my teenage years, when I was, for the first time in my life, consciously analyzing myself, my inner feelings and my evolution. I was noting everything, writing everything down. I let everything happen. I was curious about how I might feel; what types of feelings I could explore. I was my own subject of study. For the first time, I realized that I was thirsty for poetry, love, metaphors, journeys, songs, inner discoveries, connections… I excepted it all and studied it with great seriousness. The works I made in those years mark a period of complete purity and freshness that I am I experienced.
