This work is inspired by Egon Schiele. His work is depressive. His starved and tortured figurines in his works have inspired this image. The way Schiele achieves expressive and visually compelling work by composing figures in a form, with the addition of contrasting colour. I applied my own style of texturing in this particular piece by using pencil markings, watercolour brushstrokes. The figurine is etched from the contrast of colours applied my style of texturing with pencil markings and brush strokes. The figurine is etched.

ā Lily Cheung is a first-generation British-born Chinese artist. ā She was born in Rhyl in North Wales, with her parents originating from Hong Kong. Having grown up in Liverpool in England, she is now based in London, where she has lived and worked for many years. Lily developed an interest in recreational drawing from an early age. Her interest eventually blossomed into a passionate hobby, and she began seriously considering a career in making visual art. After working in sales and marketing for several years during the 1990s, Lily decided to take the plunge and become a self-represented artist. She subsequently graduated in printmaking from Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, Architecture and Design in 2008. In her artistic work, Lily experiments with different techniques and utilises various materials to achieve the visual elements of line, shape and form. Her work is very diverse, bold, decorative and colourful, and she often uses painting, printmaking and sculpture in her creative process.
