Tree of Life Drawing

Read architecture at Cambridge, history of art at the Courtauld and Japanese studies at SOAS. Prior to training as an architect I trained as a technical illustrator and mechanical draughtsman. I began training in suiboku-ga or sumi-e ink painting technique, from the age of 10 with various Japanese instructors. I later trained in Byzantine icon painting after spending time on Mt. Athos and at various Eastern monasteries studying different iconography techniques. I work mainly in oils and egg tempera oil painting on canvass or wood, black ink brush painting, drypoint etching on copper plate and pencil or pen and ink sketching on paper. Works held in private collections in Canada, Japan, Italy, France and the UK.
