About The Artwork
Inspired by a sketch of my cats washing and a famous Oriental print. Also acknowledging the prominence of water in Chinese painting practiced by artists such as Fu Baoshi. The Chinese have two terms 'Shuimo' (Water Ink) and 'Shanshui' (mountain water) used in their ink painting. I am more interested in converting this into a drawing process. I hope the viewer will see the conceptual blurring between the wateriness of the technique and the subject matter. I would like them to see the fluid process of making and enjoy the way the water controls the drawing process. I expect the viewer not to comprehend that this is a drawing process.
