About The Artwork

This charcoal drawing captures a moment of profound sadness and disappointment experienced by a young woman. Her profile, outlined with sharp yet soft lines, expresses vulnerability and confusion. Long hair, like a curtain, hides part of her face, adding a sense of detachment and a desire to hide from the world. The dark background of the picture enhances the feeling of drama and hopelessness. It symbolizes the loneliness and emptiness that have filled her inner world. The charcoal technique gives the image a special depth and emotionality. The black and white palette focuses on the heroine's inner experiences, discarding everything superfluous. The picture leaves room for interpretation, allowing the viewer to think up the girl's story and feel her emotions.

My name is Alena Shaburdina, I’m a professional artist from Haifa, Israel. I can’t imagine my life without painting so I decided to connect my life with art. I was born and studied in Moscow, Russia. I have an academic education from one of the best Russian academies of Arts -  Moscow State Academy of Arts and Sciences named after S.G. Stroganov, moreover I also received training from recognized masters (Orlovsky Petr, Krivolapov Andrey, Loginov Ivan, Udelov Andrey, Tregub Petr, etc.). Last year I decided to change my life and moved to Israel, my second home. So now I'm Israeli citizen, live and work in Israel. My artworks in graphics and painting techniques, I use traditional materials such as oil, charcoal, sauce and pastel, choosing the medium most suitable for conveying the idea and the mood of the work. Recently, I work at the themes of femininity, sensuality, motherhood, finding oneself and inner support, one’s own path. Most of all I am inspired by a person with all versatility and ambiguity. I’m a hard-working artist, painting emotions, feelings and experiences that's why my artworks are so memorable and people appreciate them. I often choose a theme and prepare a whole series of paintings that most fully and comprehensively reveal it. My artworks are in private collections in Europe, Israel, Russia, the USA, and have also been presented in the exhibition collections of galleries in Austria, Germany, Russia and Italy. I am a member of the International Art Foundation, Artist trade union of Russia. Over the past years, I have been actively participating in international and Russian exhibitions, my paintings have been awarded prizes and awards in the following categories: Figurative Art, Emotions, Portrait Art and other.
