ABOUT THE ARTWORK

My new Empty Landscapes project is a kind of landscapes to fill with what the viewer has inside. Scenographies of something that is about to happen but has not yet crystallized. Potential landscapes that reflect the poetry of my memory need the experience of the viewer to be in act. But until that moment they are also non-places, maximum expression of the political in art in the words of Jacques Ranciere, which gives the viewer the ability to make decisions and the need for involvement with the work and therefore their interaction becomes an essential part to complete it.

I am learning to explore and bring to light the darker side of my life experiences. Meanwhile I continue drawing the essence of those real or imagined landscapes that make me so happy because they help me get away from that darkness... I paint the darkness and draw the light, always from silence. © Mariano Luque Romero.
