About the Artist

I live and work in Falmouth, Cornwall
My paintings are motivated by the way we perceive and make associations to ambiguous imagery. I am intrigued by the moment when we cannot clearly recognise an image so we turn to our imagination to fill in the gaps. I want my paintings to drift playfully between representation and abstraction, remaining open for the viewer to engage, interpret and re-invent the paintings. I piece together many components such as spontaneous action and considered decisions, abstract mark making and fragments of representation, my influences and the drawings I make. These elements help me to construct the paintings, pulling together an eclectic range of visual languages over a drawn out period.
