About The Artwork
Vanitas is a motif in european art and literature of the 16th and 17th centuries. Pictures executed in the vanitas style were meant to remind viewers of the transience of earthly life and the certainty of death. In a series of drawings "Vanitas" I would like to back to the tradition by symbols from the past but using present places around me. I would like to show fragments of landscape with man-made elements and impassive nature. Nature that existed before human beings and will be here after us.
