About The Artwork

This drawing was done from a composite of 3 to 4 old photos and some imagination. This was how the old barn on our place used to look before I cleaned it up. My father-in-law would collect old signs that were in disuse and patch up holes on the roof or the sides. Later on a Coke memorabilia collector wanted the sign so, my father-in-law gave that to him. Angus the dog was a real fixture on the farm for over 10 years. I hope the viewer of the drawing sees that no all decay is bad. I see pictures of decay on my farm and I am reminded of good times, hard work and family that lived on this place (and these things are still true). Pencil is my best work, although I do some oils, pastel and pen and ink.

I joined the Air Force for 6 years (Great Britain, Colorado and Nebraska). I spent 3 years as an Air Force Security Policeman and 3 years an Imagery Interpreter. Joined the Arkansas Army National Guard upon leaving the Air Force, where I served in FDC (Fire Direction Control). I became a Chaplain Assistant and deployed with 1/142nd Field Artillery Brigade and served in combat during Desert Storm in 1991. I retired from the military in 1999. Currently, I live on my wife's family farm in the Ozark mountains of Arkansas.
