About The Artwork

This expressive monochrome watercolor painting catches the moonlight atmosphere at the Baltic Sea in a snowy winter night, where I spent many nights watching the sea in moonlight... I miss real snow very much! Watermarks and lines, scratches and other watercolor effects are important to my work and keep fascinating me. This special painting was done spontaneously on a stable acid free cardboard back of a normal watercolor pad, so you can frame it normally but also without glass or floating in an object frame. This gives you a lot of choices. Watercolor on Arches cardboard 31x31 cm. Sprayvarnished. Signed and titled on front and on the back. Certificate of authenticity. Based in Germany, Gesa Reuter’s artistic practice started in 1996. She has since studied the techniques of the old Dutch masters, layering selfmade gouache, egg tempera and sometimes oil to build her paintings with different layers of paint from thin to thick. Recently she has discovered the power of watercolours and ink in her work, enjoying the way the watery materials leave marks and traces to describe her inner feelings and emotions. Rather than painting an accurate visual representation of a landscape, she prefers to use the power of memory; her artworks are an expression of her feelings and emotions in the moment of experiencing the landscape." (Inside Artists, Issue 9, Summer 2017) So far, her works have been exhibited in Germany and Europe, mainly sold to private collectors in Germany, U.S.A., UK, NL, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, to architects, small companies, private medical and psychological practices. In public collection of Amateras Foundation, Bulgaria, NHS England and Kunsthaus Stove, Germany.
