About The Artwork
From a series of portraits of people related to crime in some way. I incorporated a Rorschach inkblot into the work as they were previously used to identify mental illness, and were often used with criminals. I found a photograph of a beautiful young witness from a mafia trial, she reminded me so much of the famous Tretchikoff painting I had to draw her.

Rachael Eden was born in Whitley Bay in North Tyneside and studied at the University of Brighton receiving her BA Hons in Fine Art Painting in 2015. Eden works within her own sci-fi universe, weaving a narrative with seemingly disparate images. She works instinctively; leafing through books and magazines until an image or story grabs her. Her work can be read in many different ways with each viewer projecting their own ideas and narrative onto it.
