About The Artwork

This painting summarises the symbols of a canoe trip, made in the Bacchiglione river, by three unsuspecting and fascinated people immersed in the clear blue, the artist's intention is simply to bring back the immersive feeling of peace and blue. With this series I have (re)tried to mould portraits, self portraits, events that happened directly to me or to third parties always in my presence. These PROJECTS support themselves in their construction as a HUMAN body does and maintain a structural strength in symbiosis with delicacy. The weaving of bamboo takes its cue from the scaffolding that supports, envelops and protects; with the help of other pieces it could potentially continue to expand and change. The use of bamboo is given for the resilient characteristics it has in common with the HUMAN being, along with many other common features.

His artistic interest began in 2010 when he moved to Barcelona, which manifested itself through pop-surrealism, and he began exhibiting for several galleries and public spaces in the city. In the summers from 2014 to 2017, he joined the art residency association St.Henri Castelnaudary, Toulouse. Between 2017 and 2018 he moved back to Vicenza, exhibiting for the biblical festival, after which he began to develop an interest in sculpture that led him to exhibit in 2019 with a solo show in the Gallery &artgallery and subsequent collaborations. In 2020, Barbiero moves towards Landart, which will lead him to create site-specific works for institutions, such as the municipality of Bassano del Grappa (Vi), The Baldo Festival Province of (Vr) 2021, in collaboration with Cariverona. His artistic matrix is based on duality, which he uses to interpret human directions; he finds inspiration in the forms of nature and its workings, using bamboo and scaffolding as the architectural basis that constitute the DNA of his language for the construction of his works. - Andrea T.
