About The Artwork
“Ange ou demon” is the perfect depiction of the duality that is present throughout our lives. Light and dark, full and empty, strength and weakness, good and bad – some of the key antonyms that silently, yet steadily rule our world. The symbols are purposefully inverted as to depict the intertwining and constant “role-changing” characteristic of these relative concepts. Something appearing to be negative in the beginning can prove to be positive in the end and the other way around. You cannot see the light without the dark or appreciate the power of something soft without perceiving the gentleness of something strong. The artwork takes the shape of two opened wings bound together, because the concepts it depicts are never one without the other. The insertions are made from thin and thick copper pipes.
