About The Artwork
The work is called "Bangala" because about 6 weeks ago I got a dog (Galgo from Spain) from an animal shelter. The dogs all come from Spain...mainly galgos (Greyhounds) which Spanish Galgoleros use for sports (races) and discard after two years or so when the dogs become older and slower. These very poor dogs often end up stray, injured, and discarted either breaking their legs so they can´t run back home or take them to the shelter to be killed. See my facebook page: Melanie Richter. European organisations collect these dogs and take them to their countries and take care of them. People can adopt these dogs. They are very beautiful...have a very gentle character..and are just wonderful. Since I love my Bangala so much I called the picture Bangala...which means Bangladesh in Spanish.
