I was born on Friday the 13th, July, 1973 in Boise, Idaho. I grew up in Tucson, Arizona as the youngest of two boys. As a child my favorite escape after school was combing the deserts for hours on end. Searching for lost treasures, cowboy hideouts and wildlife. I also loved fishing with my dad on trout streams in Idaho or anywhere we could wet a line. The few times we did it was priceless. At an early age I started doing art projects to raise a larger bounty then my weekly allowance for chores. My first venture was selling my painted pet rocks door to door in a nearby mobile home park. They sold quite well...I think the grandmas like'd the little boy at the door more then the artistic value of the pieces. My best seller was the lady bug. I later started doing pictures made with copper twisted wire. They did not sell as well, maybe cause they did not go with peoples decor...lol Art stopped for sometime until I bought my first home. I furnished it but ran out of money for art. So I bought a canvas and some acrylic paint and sat in the garage for 5 hours and painted my first large painting. It's the red painting above titled "breakup". All of the paintings in my house were not framed but hung 6" off the wall by 8" of chain. Was kind of and industrial look. I also made all the window coverings in the house along with a very kool mosaic mirrored bar. I found it was one thing that relaxed me. Over the years I started painting large mixed-medium pieces for friends, along with making small jewelry pieces. I would give them to friends for special occasions. One piece I am most proud of is the "circle of life" piece above. It was during a time when a good friend of mine, Scott Feldhacker's lab was getting older in years. I painted it for 8 hours and snuck over to his house Christmas Eve. I put it on the door step, rang the door bell and drove off. He called me pretty emotional minutes later. His lab was a beautiful dog and he was a great friend. I rarely finish my paintings. I usually set for a long duration for a single painting session and rarely come back to them. I have recently started doing some resin, wood pieces that I are weeks in the making. Through my art I have learned the importance of following my heart. Art is truly one thing I just love doing. Brett Beshey
