This piece comes in a set with the “Still alive” and “Angel time” pieces. All three artworks are made from a single piece of linden wood. The artist says: “Childhood was the last piece I cut out, but it is depicted as the first piece of the set. I had a totally different idea at first, of what to do with that piece of wood, but it gradually transformed into this exquisite three-piece set. They represent the three major stages in our lives – childhood, adulthood and elderhood." The childhood period is about innocence, playfulness, fairy-tales and believing that anything is possible. The insertions are shaped from an actual copper pipe (it still has the technical engraving on it). The piece serves both as an eccentric work of art as well as a mirror. The piece is shaped like a horse and when you look at yourself in this mirror you can smile at your inner child.
