About The Artwork

For a lot of youngsters, the ultimate goal in life is to become famous. Exhibitionism has become the new lifestyle-sickness, and some people are willing to go to extremes to get attention. Often without regarding the consequences. As a comment on this new trend, I have made myself into a famous person, and made a sculpture of myself. Just like other famous people have sculptures made of themselves. Hall of Fame consists of 16 sculptures on plinths. I have used my own self portrait as a canvas, and painted on faces of other famous and important artists and celebrities. The portraits have wigs and other accessories to identify who they are. The whole lot is exhibited as a Hall of Fame, including my own authentic self portrait amongst them, as if I was a part of this good company. The portraits, which are actually all me, consist of famous artists, talk-show hosts, politicians, royalties and so on. What they all have in common is that they are famous for some reason, whether they are extremely talented, psychos or a victim of medias need to create stories. They all symbolizes someones dream to shine in media, to be loved and remembered for the future.

Born 1973 in Norway. Lives and work in Oslo. I work with sculpture, objects and installation. The inspiration often emanates from subject matter concerning politics and contemporary questions. I aim to comment and create an arena for reflections. Conceptual contemporary ceramic. My aim is to renew the esthetics of the ceramic sculpture, and its role in the contemporary art scene. Visually the goal is to make something I have never seen before, and the works often have a surrealistic expression. To explore and experiment with different materials and medias, is a central part of my artistic venue. The works often have a machine-made and mass-produced character to imitate a commercial aesthetic expression. Readymades and found objects are either uses as they are, or casted in porcelain. It can therefore be hard to determine what is casted and what is the original. A duality often used in my works to challenge our perception of reality.
