About The Artwork

In Is Not Seeing Itself Seeing an Abyss? I have articulated the problem of inductively identifying five ordinary objects from their parts and/or counterparts covered is plaster using primarily Sartre’s phenomenological approach to imagination or what he calls the “imaging consciousness”. I have shown five different ways by which it posits an intentional object out of time and space, from the knowledge of the perceived objects. The object as imaged in this way lacks spatiotemporal relational determinations and the very attempt of our innate power of imagination strives to fill these gaps implying a nothingness- a sort of abyss, wrapping the object imagined. But at certain points the Sartrean account runs counter as well as parallel to that of Kant however neither is unquestionable.

As an artist, I seek to address the debates on various areas of philosophy ranging from 'possible worlds' relationships to 'personal identity'. But what I find to be the centre of interest is the nature and workings the human mind, especially consciousness and cognition because, as I see it, creation and appreciation of all art necessarily involve human experience rooted in consciousness.
