About The Artwork

The work consists of four triangles-stretchers, on which the canvas is stretched from both sides. 130x80 cm, oil. The canvas is stretched on the stretchers on both sides, and is divided into several equal triangles, connected by a metal rod. Thus, all parts of the fabric have the property of rotating. The form involves finding around the canvas, which gives the product an indirect form of installation. The work is performed in a unique author's technology of tempo-rhythmic painting, allowing to view the picture not only in its volume and dynamics, but also to observe the changes occurring with it depending on the light fall. The painting was written in August 2015 on the Taman Peninsula, the site of the ancient Greco-Sindi town of Hermonass. On one side of the canvas is the rising of the sun in the east, the burning of the flame of the rhythm of color. On the other hand - the sunset, the west, the burning colors of the summer day, the grace of the sunlight dying out for several hours. In this case, the form of the canvas and the image merge with its contextual content. "East-West" reconciles the colorful mystery of the ancient land.

« I translate the nature that surrounds me into volumetric structures.» Olga Bezhina was born in the south of Russia in the city of Krasnodar in 1981, graduated from the Krasnodar Art School in 2001, where, until she created her own technique of tempo rhythmic painting, she experimented with various versions of classical painting, forming her unique style year after year. Olga works in the open air. Taman. The ancient peninsula - the Greek city of Hermonass, filled with history, with its energy - land, sea and sun. Experimenting with a spectrally clean palette, rethinking natural colors and reflecting in his works the optical effect of the influence of light and wind flows on the relief and color of the canvas. The open air, at which Olga creates landscapes, acts as a creative laboratory, where the search for the most advanced pictorial approaches is carried out, new solutions are scooped. She claims that this place gives her the opportunity to create, she is inspired by the open, vast expanses of the steppe, the deep blue sky, the hot sun and the sea around. The first work was born in the open air in 2011.      Olga Bezhina is an artist who creates landscapes reinterpreted from the surrounding space of nature into volumetric structures. Such is the work of "Particle", created by all shades of blue and turquoise. Its large strokes form a convex, complex texture, where each element is laid out thoughtfully, verified, like pieces of colored mosaic smalt. He writes quickly - it takes about 12 hours to do one job. Each element of the picture creates a complex surface with iridescent, clear color - this is the most important component of the concept. Color, rhythm, scale - a puzzle, with the help of which the artist tries to "tame" the ancient earth, fixing it with heavy, oil strokes. Olga, painter: “I do not give a picture directly, I do not rewrite what I see in front of me. I create landscapes, rethink the nature that surrounds me into volumetric structures. "
