About The Artwork
I wanted to take the act of construction in drawing and painting off the picture plane. The aim being to change the concept of drawing and painting which is generally confined to mark making or mixing colour on a surface. Picasso painted on glass to try to achieve a similar concept and Kelly and Stella took painting out of the frame and objectified it. My aim is to use space and material to create drawing/ painting in space. Although the wall space confines and dictates many of these spatial paintings I am now taking them on journeys off the wall and on to object in the room such as tables or chairs. Examples here are for negotiated sale because their relationship to room space or site specific objects is important.
