Contemporary digital painting made by the creation of images from sound. Produced using a unique process combining the mediums of photography, computer graphics, scientific imaging, and music production software, in an attempt to achieve a synthesis between music and visual art. This image represents a discrete part of the 3D stereoscopic audio-visual animation ‘Sequence’, exhibited at Topolski Century Gallery, London Southbank in 2012, created in collaboration with photographer Francesca D’Ascari. . Through experimentation, forms were constructed in 3D, with the image ‘6-2motionreverve.LR’ wrapped around a newly-born shape and put back into the sequence. The work aims to evoke ‘neurological’ responses in the ‘viewer,’ exploring vision and hearing, psychology and memory. Printed on premium quality 1mm thick aluminium complete with aluminium hanging rails hardware. Especially durable and lightweight making it suitable for framing if you wish the artwork framed. Encapsulated in special coating, the result is a beautiful sheen in vivid colour, imitating that of the glass-covered LCD computer screen ‘canvas’ where the painting was produced.

“We are all invited to participate in the experiment.” I explore ways to experience ‘objects’ in relation to how we perceive them. I make ‘looking’ active rather than reactive, showing different viewpoints. An important perspective I examine is ‘frequency’ – using computers to extract information from inside and outside of the body. This information is translated into a poetic experience of patterns, sounds, and imagery. I create digital paintings, sculptures, installations, stereographic animations, and real-time interactive compositions as ways to investigate underlying mind and body processes. This site highlights an ongoing series of contemporary digital paintings made by the creation of images from sound, and a 3D printed sculpture of an impossible object from an iconic 16th century painting, designed and carefully transformed using CAD software.
