About The Artwork
I have explored line paintings for more than a decade. I continue to be surprised at the possibilities. This is a digital painting created using the app Procreate. I have been a fan of digital painting since seeing David Hockney's in 2016. On the ABC's Thisweek program broadcast on 26 December 2021, the host George Stephanopoulos interviewed Dr Ashish Jha, who is the Dean of the School of Public Health at the Brown School of Public Health. While Dr Jha provided useful information and insights into the Omicron strain of the Covid-19 virus, I was taken with the artwork in the background. It inspired me to paint and '7 rows of lines on white' is one painting.

I am a colourist. My work explores colour balance, colour contrast and colour relationships. The results are strong vibrant works through to works that are minimalist, subtle and subdued. There are recurring themes of starkness, aloneness, isolation and otherness that reflect my lived experience. While much of my work involves acrylic on canvas and board, I embrace collage and digital painting, mixed media, watercolour and sculpture. I seek to engage with viewers, inviting exploration of the creative process, patterns and markings. Sometime the engagement entails humour. I would like viewers of my work to understand mediums and their meanings.
