About The Artwork

The Offerings is a symbolic exploration of the things I’ve offered over throughout past season. To myself and others. To varying degrees of success and acceptance. There is so much that is lost in the translation of the offers themselves. The questions that I still haven’t answered: What do we offer? How much? To whom? How do we prioritize what we offer? When do we give what we want to offer? And when do we offer what we’re asked? About the piece: A large wreath of springtime willow (printed as a photogram) surrounds three hands (printed with large photographic negatives). Two hold wild garlic mustard and one holds a cone of a Japanese Umbrella Pine (not actually a pine at all - a living fossil that can be traced to 250 million years ago). Color: Ferric ferrocyanide // Prussian blue 18x24 inches, heavy cold-pressed watercolor paper, unframed

Margaret has spent the last decade in tech startups, most recently at a venture capital firm that invested in B2B software. In October 2022, she left in-house work and began to prioritize artistic exploration. Margaret is an “art-school drop out”, having changed her major from Visual Arts to Public Relations at University of Florida in 200…something. But it was never too far away. While still in college, she studied photography for a semester in Paris with Sergio Vega. After college, she spent two years as a portrait photographer, traveling between studios in Palm Beach, FL and White Plains, NY. The last decade of her life has been a gradual (and then quite sudden) re-integration of artistic practice.
