About The Artwork

"Awakening Spring" captures the essence of the season's inception—a time of rebirth and rejuvenation. This artwork celebrates the emergence of life as earthy hues blend with the scent of wet soil, where water and branches herald the awakening of New Zealand nature's beauty. The inspiration for this artwork comes from the magical moment when winter's grasp loosens, and the earth stirs with renewed life. The harmonious blend of earthy colours, the scent of wet soil, and the vibrant presence of water and branches fuel the essence of spring's rebirth. Through "Awakening Spring," I aspire to evoke a deep connection with the natural world and the sense of wonder it instills. The earthy palette and the sight of water and branches rekindling life are meant to inspire viewers to embrace the season's transformative power and to contemplate their own renewal. Earthy tones dominate the palette, symbolising the grounded nature of spring's rebirth. These colours evoke the warmth and comfort of soil, representing the nurturing base from which life emerges. In the creation of "Awakening Spring," I employed a combination of acrylic paints, complemented by the pastels. Acrylic pencils and markers were used for intricate detailing, adding depth and texture to the artwork. This diptych transports viewers into the heart of spring's awakening. As earthy colours, the scent of wet soil, water, and branches unite to breathe life into the canvas, this artwork serves as a testament to the enduring cycle of renewal and the beauty that emerges as nature comes back to life.

"Abstract art became a means for me to handle conflicting emotions after becoming a mother. My art celebrates the power of womanhood, while blending femininity, emotionality, and sencitivity. Through my work, I invite viewers to explore the strength and resilience inherent in feminine energy, finding empowerment in vulnerability and creativity." - Olga Sorokina _______________ Olga Sorokina is the author of the book "The SKETCH.
