About The Artwork

The scanned image for this limited-edition printed on canvas comes from an original oil painting sold a few years ago. All my flower paintings are composed like an abstract image aiming to produce an emotion. I try to ignore the physical meaning of the subject and focus on the interaction happening between the light effects, the tonal values, the colours, shape and angles as well as the tactile feeling proposed by the texture of the brushwork. The original painting was made of multiple layers of colours dissolved in a linseed oil medium. The last layering is made of thing glazing colours to produce the luminosity, transparency and the illusion of texture. This series was inspired from a reflection about the 4 elements make up our planet earth as we know it. I like to present the floral subject in a new way, showing the hidden part that is often full of surprise. This edition is numbered and signed 1/50 on the back. This one is framed with natural hardwood box frame.
